We are seeking an experienced Head of Social and Community to join the Global iYP (Yell.com) and Local Portal team.    This position will be based in our Reading Head Office.

Role Purpose:

The role holder is responsible for the leadership of Social and Community aspects of the current iYP (Yell.com) product and the forthcoming Local Portal. They are responsible for the ongoing development and execution of the social and community strategy and roadmap, plus the in-life management of any existing or ongoing relevant features and functionality.


  • Ownership of the ongoing development, execution and management of the social and community strategy roadmap for iYP and Local Portal.
  • Ownership of all social and community consumer interactions and contributions, e.g. ratings, reviews, Q&A, UGC
  • Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of social and community features and functionality
  • Management of the Social and Community team
  • Defining development epics, specifications and backlogs
  • Working with the Head of Search to determine the display and userflow for social/community interactions
  • Working with the Head of Social and Community to
    • Create a UGC strategy based on moving from initial seeded content to UGC
    • Identify, recruit and manage paid UGC contributions
  • Working with global colleagues in engineering, search, SEO/SEM, marketing
  • Delivering against usage targets
  • Assisting in the delivery of social media campaigns, in conjunction with local operations
  • Working with other key team members on media and content strategy
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal / regulatory / competition requirements

Experience required:

  • High quality BA degree (or equivalent), MBA an advantage
  • Solid relevant social media, community and wider digital marketing experience at a senior level
  • Good understanding of digital products, trends and markets
  • Ability to support online / technology product lines
  • Ability to liaise with senior managers
  • Excellent strategic / analytical / commercial / presentation / communication / relationship / management skills
  • Great attention to detail

  • Passion, enthusiasm, commitment

There may be flexibility for this position to be based from our London office 1 day per week if required.
