As Technical Lead of the Conversational AI team you will be responsible for the performance and persona of all the Conversational AI bots which Yell maintains. You will build and grow and existing team of conversational analysts, microservice developers and automated testers to create industry leading chat bots appropriate for a modern digital marketplace of small and medium businesses.


Support bots covering a wide range conversational scenarios such as inbound merchant support, outbound outreach, and qualification of inbound contacts. You should have prior experience using a leading conversational AI cloud platform of building and maintaining chatbots at volume in production.

Hands-on approach understanding the full stack of the team’s delivery. You will drive quality development of new features in an agile environment whilst continuously monitoring the performance of the bots in production and reacting to user and technological changes.

Led by the data, capable of manipulating large volumes of conversations and utterances to load them into a variety of existing Conversational AI tools and processes using a Python based environment. You should be able to use conversational AI testing and design tools, python and natural language techniques to explore the data and derive insight from them to tune the bots production performance.

Maintain technical relationships with key external suppliers, promoting deep understanding of their products in your team, and levering their features to produce meaningful improvements in customer experience.

Develop microservices in a containerised cloud environment and be able to lead good cross component technical design, produce clear architectural documentation and communicate clearly plans and risks to business stakeholders.

Work closely with the Head of Software Engineering, Individual Yell Product Owners and other Senior Leadership stakeholders to design, manage, evolve and prioritise the ambitious future of Yell AI bots, driven by customer needs and solving real world problems.

Build collaborative relationships across the organisation with teams including Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations and Go To Market to ensure we continually delight our customers.

Capable of building strong relationships across teams
Able to lead robust code review, testing and automated testing procedures.
Working in an Agile Scrum based environment using a modern ticketing driven system and implementing CI/CD concepts
Have designed REST/CRUD Microservice environments using containers and AWS
Be already regularly communicating architecture and technical decisions to business stakeholders and technical team members
Understanding how users interact with modern messaging systems
Competent with JS ESM5/ESM6
Have maintained an intent/entity trained cloud-based bot in production at volume
Able to understand and explain model accuracy concepts using precision, recall and f1 metrics
Dealt with large volumes of data using python (pandas,numpy)
Able to tune machine learnt intent classification and entity extraction models

Requirements :

Google Business Messaging and/or Apple Business Chat and/or Whatsapp and/or SMS
NLU experience, Clustering, Classification, Extraction,
Java coding experience
LivePerson Conversation Cloud, Intent Manager and Conversation Builder
IBM Watson Assistant and/or Microsoft Luis and/or Google DialogFlow and/or RASA or QBox
Atlassian Jira/Confluence
Multiprocessing Large Data Frames in Python
PowerBI or other data visualisation tool.
