Due to the growth and success of our digital portfolio, helping to market and advertise SME's, we are looking to grow our engineering team. We are seeking an experienced UX Designer to join our Reading based team, on a permanent basis. The Senior UX designer will create best of breed user experiences for Yell’s digital products, spanning the web and apps. This is a wide‑ranging role with responsibility for applying excellent user experience design to improve consumer engagement on yell.com, optimising lead conversion on business.yell.com and producing engaging website templates for Yell’s website products.

This Senior UX Designer will need to work closely with other UX designers, research, Product Management, engineering (web and app development), and Marketing to create smart and engaging user experiences. The Senior UX Designer must think not only about the way things look, but also how they work. In the case of designing a web application, they understand modern front-end web technologies like HTML5 and CSS3 and how these tools can be used to improve the UX.

The Role:

• Work with contributors from multiple functions to develop, refine and articulate the visual and interaction design of the product concept through wireframes, storyboards and other lo-fi design techniques
• Transform early-stage design artefacts (e.g. wireframes) into best-of-breed product designs that drive improved consumer engagement and lead conversion, whilst remaining true to brand guidelines
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, front end web developers, app developers, technical program managers and marketing to plan and execute creation of the product according to agreed objectives and design principles
• Lead - or participate in - user testing of the product to identify issues and improve the clarity of the visual communication
• Understand trends in the online consumer and small- and medium-sized business markets

The Person:

• Strong communication skills: this role will require regular presentation to upper management
• Strong visual eye and attention to detail
• Ability to set a visual direction that is compelling and to ensure the final product launches according to agreed principles objectives
• Can manage multiple projects at any given time
• Proven ability to set visual guidelines for common usage across all online products
